We are Fredy Wiesner Gastronomie
The FWG has its origin back in 1989 with the founding of Dr. Kaub & Wiesner AG by Dr. Erich Kaub (a consultant from Munich) and Fredy Wiesner. What began as a consultancy company in the gastronomy sector soon took its course with the opening of its own restaurants. After Fredy Wiesner opened the first Café Sandwich in Zurich in the year 1990 with business partners from Basel, Fredy Wiesner soon followed the separation from his partners and took over all shares. From then on, Fredy Wiesner went his own way, always supported by his wife Anita and soon also with help of the children Manuel and Daniel.

The first large restaurant, the Outback Lodge - Australian Bar & Food House was opened at Stadelhofen train station in 1997 after various smaller cafés / takeaways, a takeaway kiosk at the Riesbach harbor and an extremely successful pretzel stand at Zurich Main Station. On this basis and two more Australian restaurants in Winterthur and Uster, the horizon was expanded. The three Australian restaurants were followed by the first Asian restaurant in 2004, the Nooch - Asian Kitchen in district 4 in Zurich. The expansion wave, mainly with Asian restaurants, started with an additional brand Negishi - Sushi Bar in 2008. At peak times, such as in 2008, 4 restaurants were opened in one year and in 2010, even 5 restaurants were opened.

In 2014, a re-branding of the unofficial name Fredy Wiesner Group took place with the renaming into Fredy Wiesner Gastronomie. The portfolio was further expanded with the burger restaurant The Butcher in early summer 2015, followed by Papa Ceviche with its specialties from Peru.

Today, all four family members are working in the company. With its brands, Fredy Wiesner Gastronomie is currently present in Zurich, Winterthur, Basel, Bern and Zug with around 25 restaurants and employs more than 500 people from more than 60 different nations.
