Sustainability must be actively lived, that is the motto of the FWG. So we are writing the history of a family business with a commitment to social and ecological action. FWG was the first Swiss multi-restaurant company to introduce CO2 transparency for all food products!

Food Waste

With us, you can be sure that food waste is reduced. With our long-standing partner Too Good To Go, we have already saved over 200,000 meals from the garbage can.

Swissness

With us, you support local businesses, fair working conditions and short transport routes. Because we source our chicken, beef and pork from Switzerland.

Velo Food

With us, you can order your food to your home without a twinge of conscience. Our own bike couriers deliver wherever possible.

Environmentally friendly soap

Environmentally friendly soap: With us, you have sustainability in your own hands: Our soaps from the Swiss company Soeder contain no synthetic substitutes, are 100% biodegradable and the soap dispensers are refilled instead of thrown away.

CO2-reduced

With us, you can eat and do something for the environment at the same time. Order a vegetarian dish and you help to almost halve CO2 emissions compared to a meat dish.

Responsibility

With us, you can trust that sustainability is important to us beyond the end of our nose. We work with suppliers who guarantee socially and ecologically compatible production and delivery conditions.

Save Water

With us, you can even save water when you urinate - thanks to our modern urinals without flushing.

Water for all

Drinking tap water with us is good for the environment and for you: no packaging, no waste, no transport routes - and it's free.

WHAT WE ARE DOING NOW & IN THE FUTURE

Our 3-point plan

Protecting our environment

We are committed to climate protection. In addition to reducing our own emissions, we are also investing in CO2 removal. Our goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by 10% by the end of 2025 and to remove an additional 5% through our partner Climeworks.

We are tackling global plastic pollution. We do this by trying to reduce plastic products in our kitchens and offering delivery and take-away containers made from renewable and recyclable raw materials.

We use electricity from renewable sources from the free electricity market in our restaurants wherever possible. Our partner EWZ is supplying us with 100% "Wind Europe" quality electricity for 2024 and 2025.

Choosing the right products

We attach great importance to sustainability when sourcing food. To avoid imported goods via air freight, we rely on growing Asian vegetables in the EU and our beef, pork and chicken come from Switzerland.

We are constantly developing new climate-friendly dishes in all our restaurants. By offering a wide range of diverse vegetarian dishes, we not only have an impact on climate change, but also on health and animal welfare.

We serve sustainable seafood from our partner Blueyou. The Selva shrimps are ASC-certified from the natural habitat of the mangrove forest. Our salmon comes from sustainable aquaculture in Norway and is also ASC-certified. The tuna comes from longline fishing in the Western Pacific and is MSC-certified.

Empowering employees

We provide loans of CHF 40,000 to CHF 70,000 to employees each year through the FWG-Foundation. For fast and effective support, the loans are granted interest-free, unsecured and without extensive credit checks.

In our restaurants, we raise money for charitable projects. With every charity dish sold, we donate CHF 1 to the beneficiaries. Every 6 months, a new project is supported with the amount collected.

We are the first Swiss catering company to increase the value of tips - by deducting them from wages, we show real earnings and offer genuine social insurance cover in the event of illness, accident or unemployment. This is why we now pay around CHF 0.5 million more employer contributions into the social security system than before.

We are part of the Swisstainable sustainability program and are classified as Level II - engaged. The Swisstainable sustainability programme brings together businesses and organizations across the entire Swiss tourism sector. By participating, we commit to continuous sustainable corporate development, pursue measures in the area of sustainability and thus make a concrete contribution to sustainable Swiss tourism.
